The St. Joseph's Singers is a choral chamber ensemble that sings sacred and secular music from all periods, with an emphasis on the music of J. S. Bach and contemporary composers.
St. Joseph's Singers was founded in the Spring of 2004 by Stephen Black, director of music at St. Joseph's Church Yorkville, and a graduate of the Yale School of Music. The ensemble's first concert took place on April 4, 2004.
St. Joseph's Singers is an auditioned group of sixteen to twenty skilled singers, all of whom have studied voice either privately or in a conservatory-like setting. Prospective members may contact the conductor to schedule an audition. The chorus performs concerts at St. Joseph's Church, 404 East 87th Street, as well as other venues in the upper east side of Manhattan.
