St. Joseph's Church Yorkville, a Roman Catholic Church on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, is seeking an Organist/Director of Music, effective August 1, 2010. Current responsibilities include playing five weekend masses, plus masses on Holy Days, as well as weddings and funerals. The Director of Music also rehearses and conducts the Parish Choir and the Family Mass children’s choir. The position could also include conducting the St. Joseph's Singers, a concert chamber choir in residence at the church.

The St. Joseph's Singers is a choral chamber ensemble that sings sacred and secular music from all periods, with an emphasis on the music of J. S. Bach and contemporary composers.

St. Joseph's Singers was founded in the Spring of 2004 by Stephen Black, director of music at St. Joseph's Church Yorkville, and a graduate of the Yale School of Music. The ensemble's first concert took place on April 4, 2004. The St. Joseph's Singers was honored to perform for Pope Benedict XVI during his May 2008 visit to the USA.

Membership Information

St. Joseph's Singers is an auditioned group of sixteen to twenty-four skilled singers, all of whom have studied voice either privately or in a conservatory-like setting. Prospective members may contact the conductor to schedule an audition. The chorus performs concerts at St. Joseph's Church, 404 East 87th Street, as well as other venues in the upper east side of Manhattan.
