On Sunday, March 29 at 4:00 PM, SJS, a chamber choir conducted by Stephen Black, will present Seven Last Words of Christ by New York City composer Nancy Wertsch. The composition is a choral meditation on the utterances of Christ at his crucifixion. This will be the second performance of the work, after its premiere at First Presbyterian Church, NYC, 2007. The featured soloists are Catherine Dain and Christopher Herbert, and the organist is Christopher Creaghan. A donation of $15 is suggested. The program will be performed at St. Joseph's Church Yorkville, on the upper east side of Manhattan (404 East 87th Street).

The St. Joseph's Singers is a choral chamber ensemble that sings sacred and secular music from all periods, with an emphasis on the music of J. S. Bach and contemporary composers.
St. Joseph's Singers was founded in the Spring of 2004 by Stephen Black, director of music at St. Joseph's Church Yorkville, and a graduate of the Yale School of Music. The ensemble's first concert took place on April 4, 2004. The St. Joseph's Singers was honored to perform for Pope Benedict XVI during his May 2008 visit to the USA.
St. Joseph's Singers is an auditioned group of sixteen to twenty-four skilled singers, all of whom have studied voice either privately or in a conservatory-like setting. Prospective members may contact the conductor to schedule an audition. The chorus performs concerts at St. Joseph's Church, 404 East 87th Street, as well as other venues in the upper east side of Manhattan.
